Q: Why should I choose TGA?

A : The mission of The Gymnastics Academy (TGA) is to provide the next generation with quality gymnastics in a fun and safe atmosphere. We also provide building blocks for lifelong fitness and a solid foundation of motor and kinesthetic skills that translate to all other sports. Finally, we are committed to encouraging your child by building their self confidence and self-esteem in every class.

We offer a nationally accredited KAT Preschool Program for ages 2-4, Beginners for ages 5-18, Intermediate and Advanced for ages 6-18, Boys Recreation Classes for ages 5 -18, and a Competitive Team Program for those who aspire to compete in sanctioned USA Gymnastics meets

Q: What is the best age to start a child in gymnastics?

A : Right now is the best age! We have classes to engage all age groups. It’s never too late to start your child's lifelong fitness at TGA.

Q: When can my son/daughter start?

A : You can start any time providing there is availability. Monthly fees are prorated to reflect the remaining classes in the current month tuition

Q: How do I register?

A : Registration can be done online through your parent portal or can be done in person by the parent or legal guardian at TAG’s front desk. To set up an account using our parent portal, please follow these steps:

  • Go to www.tgaduluth.com
  • Click on the parent portal login tab
  • Click on the command to log in to your customer portal.
  • Click on the blue link that states “ forgot password or need to get started?”
  • To access your secure account, please enter the email address we have on file for you
  • A temporary password will then be emailed to you
  • Go back to parent portal login and type in email and temporary password.

That’s all there is to it! Now you can log into your parent portal, check your balance, make payments, and view your schedules!

Q: How do I enroll in a class?

A : Please call us at 218-722-4404 and we will be happy to assist you

Q: How do I pay my bill?

A : You have three payment options:

  • Place a credit card on file using our parent portal. Each month, the credit card you have on file can be charged.
  • Pay with cash at TGA’s front desk
  • Pay with check at TGA’s front desk.
Q: May my child try a class first before we decide to enroll?

A : While we’re confident your child will love her class, you may absolutely try a class before you sign up. Just give us a call and we can set up a free trial class. All we ask is that you let us know after your trial if you’d like to join the class so we don’t hold the spot from another customer.

Q: If my child is sick or we go on vacation, can my child do a makeup?

A : If your child misses his/her class due to personal reasons such as illness, vacation or schedule conflict, your child will be entitled to a make-up. Please see our makeup policy for further information. In the event of an absence, please call prior to your child’s scheduled class. This notice is required to schedule a makeup lesson.

Q: Is there credit given for missed classes?

A : No. Please understand that TGA does not give, credit, or refunds for, class(es),private lessons, or birthday parties, that are missed or cancelled. We do, however, offer makeup classes. Please see makeup policy for further information. All sales are final for any product and/or service purchase and/or provided by TGA.

Q: We’re going to be missing gymnastics classes for an entire month, but we want to keep our place in class. Can we do that?

A : Sure! We recognize that families have a lot going on. In order to maintain your enrollment, simply notify the front desk of your child’s absences. Then, schedule makeup classes for the classes missed.

Q: What if I have to change the day or time of my child’s class?

A : If you have to change your child’s class day or time, simply stop by the front desk and we will be happy to move you into any of our open classes.

Q: What is the dress code for my child when taking gymnastics lessons?

A : Girls: Gymnastics leotards are required for all classes (bike shorts are optional). Shoulder length or longer hair must be tied back.
Boys: Elastic waist shorts and a fitted t-shirt or warm-up.
Bare feet are required for all students. Please be advised that we do not permit the following: oversized shorts, pants or t-shirts, jeans, jewelry, belts, two-piece swimsuits or any other inappropriate clothing. Improper clothing can be a safety hazard to the student as well as the teacher.
Gym wear: TGA offers gym wear for sale. Please visit the link on our website or call the front desk for additional information. Please note, TGA is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please check our “lost and found” bin located in the lobby for any items you may have lost. Items left for an extended period of time will be donated to charity.

Q: Are all of your coaches/staff qualified?

A : Yes! All of our staff are qualified and have gone through intense training. Many of our coaches have years of experience competing in the sport themselves. TGA coaches and staff hold many certifications:

  • USA Gymnastics Safety Certification
  • USA Gymnastics members
  • National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges
  • USA Gymnastics Kinder Accreditation
  • CPR and First Aid Course Completion
  • USA Gymnastics Meet Director Certification
Q: How will I know if my child is ready to move to a different class?

A : Your child’s progress is continually tracked by their coach using a skill card based on USA gymnastics progressions. Your child’s coach will communicate with you when they have accomplished the skills necessary to be promoted to the next class level.

Q: How do I know at what level to start my child with previous experience?

A : If your child has had previous gymnastics or tumbling experience, you may give us a call at 218-722-4404 to schedule a free evaluation for class placement.

Q: How do I know at what level to start my child with previous experience?

A : Entry into our competitive program is by invitation only. Our recreational teachers keep a sharp eye out for students who demonstrate an aptitude for competitive gymnastics. For specific information please call TGA at 218-722-4404.

Q: What if I have to change the day or time of my child’s class?

A : If you have to change your child’s class day or time, simply stop by the front desk and we will be happy to move you into any of our open classes.

Q: How much does it cost to change classes?

A : There is no charge to change classes. Either make the change at the front desk, or give us a call at 218-722-4404.

Q: Do I have to stay to watch my child?

A : No, unless your child is not able to use the restroom by themselves. If you are going to leave the facility while your child is in class please make sure we have your cell phone number on file so we have a method to contact you in the event of an emergency.

Q: Does TGA close for any holidays and vacations?

A : Yes. Please see our 2017-2018 calendar.

Q: What are the hours of operation?

A : Monday through Thursday 4pm-8pm. Selected Saturdays for birthday parties. Closed on Sundays.

Q: How many parties and other activities are going on during my party?

A : None! When you book a party with TGA, you are the only party or activity in the gym. It’s all yours!

Q: What is included in my party price?

A : We provide all the entertainment and hosting duties the entire time you are here. We want you to enjoy your child’s party, not work it. We provide a giant blow up obstacle course along with access to our entire gym for the first hour, then you have 30 minutes to an hour (depending on whether it’s a 1.5 hour or 2 hour birthday party) to eat and open presents. We provide plain paper products and plastic eating utensils. Each guest will receive a small party favor and the birthday child, a TGA t-shirt. You will provide whatever food and themed eating utensils and decorations you want for your guests.

Q: Do the adults get to jump on the trampolines and play in the pit during my child’s party?

A : No. Our parties are for your children and their friends. In order to keep all guests safe, we ask that parents stay off all the gymnastics equipment. Feel free to take pictures and enjoy the time with your child, but for your safety, please refrain from using the equipment.
